Nebraska Dental Center Staff

Dr. Mike Schilmoeller | Nebraska Dental CenterDr. Mike Schilmoeller

Dr. Schilmoeller graduated from Creighton University Dental School in 1983 and is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Nebraska Dental Association (NDA) and the Omaha District Dental Society.

Dentistry is an extension of his artistic talents. His profession is so intricate the success of a procedure can be measured in millimeters. He says “Dentistry allows me to combine the love of working with my hands with my love for helping people. I also enjoy trying to win over people who would rather be anywhere but in my office.”

Dr. Schilmoeller volunteers for organizations that help provide dental care for those unable to afford even basic dental needs. He has helped with the NDA’s Nebraska Mission of Mercy three years and spent ten years working with the One World Community Health Center.

Dr. Schilmoeller says, “I am blessed daily with a profession I love and am even more fortunate to be able to serve my patients with some of the most dedicated people I know – my staff.”

Diane | Dental ReceptionistDiane: Receptionist

Diane has been Dr. Schilmoeller’s receptionist since 1986 and worked for 7 years as a dental assistant prior to that. She enjoys working with people and getting to know them. “Many of our patients are like friends because I’ve been able to get to know them so well over the years,” she says. She likes helping them feel more comfortable in the dental office. Diane is also very familiar with dental insurance plans and happy to answer questions about them. She likes being able to help people receive the best benefits they can for the treatment needed.

Renee | Dental AssistantRenee: Dental Assistant

Renee has been a dental assistant for Dr. Schilmoeller since 1987. With the variety of people and procedures provided, she says her job is “never boring.” She especially likes helping those with dental anxiety receive the needed treatment comfortably with as little stress as possible. Hearing them say “that wasn’t so bad” brings her joy. What she likes most though is seeing them smile when they look at themselves for the first time after treatment is completed. Renee says, “It’s amazing what confidence they show when they see how good they look.” She is glad she can help bring that feeling to them.

Deb | Dental HygienistDeb: Dental Hygienist

Deb received her AS in Dental Hygiene from Colorado Northwestern Community College and her BS in Dental Hygiene from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She has worked with Dr. Schilmoeller since 1998. Deb especially enjoys working with people on a one-to-one basis and helping them maintain health. She has a background working in periodontal offices and as a clinical instructor at the UNMC College of Dental Hygiene. “I enjoy continuing to learn about advances in care and developing my skills,” Deb explains. “I like that I can help people through something that generally isn’t enjoyable. I can make the experience as pleasant as possible.”

Merry | Dental HygienistMerry: Dental Hygienist

Merry graduated from the Iowa Western Community College/Creighton University dental hygiene program in 2001 and was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. She is also a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association and has worked at Nebraska Dental Center since 2001. Merry loves working with patients and enjoys having them return year after year. She strives to make their appointments pleasant and uses all means to help them to feel comfortable. Merry is happy and proud to work for Dr. Schilmoeller because he truly has the best interests of the patients in mind. He is compassionate, honest, kind-hearted, and fun.

Hope | Dental AssistantHope: Dental Assistant

Hope has always worked in healthcare. She has been a dental assistant for since 2000 and prior to that worked as a nursing assistant. This background is valuable as she helps provide treatment for patients who have special needs. She has been a Dental Assistant at Dr. Schilmoeller’s office since 2003. Getting to know people is something she has always enjoyed with her work in healthcare. Being able to help them receive the treatment needed to restore their mouth health is a good feeling for her.

I wouldn’t trust anyone else to work on my teeth.  Dr. Schilmoeller and his staff are like a family.  I like to see the same friendly people every visit.

Dr. Schilmoeller does a wonderful job and I recommend him to everyone!
